When mixing remember to keep the mix interesting. In a typical worship team, the four elements of a song correspond to different instruments and vocal roles:
Percussion (Rhythm & Drive)
Drums (Kick, Snare, Hi-hat, Cymbals) (note snare and kick are most important in the mix)
Cajon (if acoustic set)
Auxiliary Percussion (shakers, tambourine)
Foundation (Chordal & Bass Support)
Bass Guitar
Acoustic Guitar (strumming)
Piano, sometimes keys (playing full chords)
Filler (Atmospheric & Textural Layers)
Electric Guitar (pads, swells, ambient sounds)
Synth/Keys (pads, strings, organ, synth leads)
Background Vocals (harmonies)
Violin
Lead (Melody & Main Focus)
Lead Vocalist(s)
Electric Guitar (lead lines, riffs)
Piano, Keys or Violin (if playing melody lines)
Each role supports the overall sound, ensuring the arrangement is balanced and dynamic.
